Growing Resilient Kids: Helping children to manage anxiety and bounce back when things go wrong

 

Key focus: Resilience and anxiety management

This is a practical solution focused workshop for parents, caregivers, grandparents, educational staff and health professionals who connect with young people (0-13 years).

Program can be delivered as parent and child sessions onsite at Smiles All Round or offsite i.e classroom.

This 2 hour workshop aims to:

  • Teach practical strategies for boosting resilience in children.
  • Assist with learning ways to recognise and manage difficult feelings such as anxiety.
  • Provide practical tips and strategies for supporting young people with anxiety within the home and educational settings.

  • Getting to know feelings – understanding and working with feelings.
  • Being a feelings detective.
  • Tips and strategies for boosting self-esteem.
  • Strategies for managing big feelings.

DIY Guide to Bouncing Back for Teens

Key focus: Resilience, Stress and Anxiety Management

Target Audience: Teenagers, caregivers and secondary school staff

This 2 hour workshop aims to teach skills for life and adopts a prevention approach. It is practical and can provide teens with important resilience skills and strategies, that are useful for both now and the future.

This practical workshop includes:

  • Learning about ANTs (Automatic Negative Thoughts).
  • Ways to tackle negative thinking patterns.
  • Identifying triggers for stress and anxiety.
  • How to recognise and manage stress and anxiety more effectively.
  • Learning how to apply a range of relaxation and stress reduction tools.
  • Setting up your own practical plan aimed at boosting general wellbeing, especially for in times of stress (e.g., exam periods, multiple assessments tasks to work on and hand in).
